Two of my films been released simultaneously. The films are Muthukku Muthaga and Nanjupuram. This is the first time that two of my films are being released at the same time in my acting career.

I was shooting for Kannikapuram Sandhipil at Kodaikanal. People who came to witness the shooting appreciated me for my acting in those two films. Many have asked me about acting in a bathing scene in Nanjupuram. I had acted in that scene without any vulgarity. In the villages you can see the womenfolks bathing jollily in the ponds, canal and lakes. There were bathing scene of the heroines’ right from the black and white days. There is nothing wrong in acting in these scenes if there is no vulgarity. Many are approaching me to act in TV serials but since I am concentrating in cinema, I have refused them. In Tamil I am currently acting in Varnam, Agarathi, Naran and in a Kannada film titled Happy Husbands."

Script and the production house are important to me. Only after this I see who the hero is. This is the policy I have in selecting the films. I am getting lots of opportunities in Tamil and other South Indian languages. But due to certain reasons I have not accepted them. It is not necessary for me to give an explanation, that why I have refused them. Some I P L teams had approached me to be their brand ambassadors.

I like cricket but at the same I am not interested in becoming an ambassador. There are reasons for this. I will always see that before accepting a film whether the heroine’s role as significance. I am interested in acting in the films directed by Manirathnam, Priyadarshan and Rajkumar Hirani. There was news recently that I have acted in a Hindi film wearing a swim suit. I will definitely act like that."

Yester year heroine Sujatha passes away

Yester year heroine Sujatha who was known for her excellent acting passed away. She was aged 59. She was born in Sri Lanka in the year 1952. Her mother tongue was Malayalam. She made her debut as heroine through the film Aval Oru Thodarkathai which was directed by K Balachandar.

 She had acted with Shivaji, Kamal and Rajni in hundreds of films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi languages. The film Andaman Kadhali and Vidhi earned her good name. She was sick for a long time. She was suffering from kidney disease. She was in a great financial distress since she had handedover her money and property to someone.

It seems that she did not even have money to buy a saree. The members of Nadigar Sangam also ignored her. Her last film in which she acted was Varalaaru which had Ajith in the lead role. After this she did not accept any films. She passed away in her residence in Chennai.

But for the sake of this film, the director changed my appearance as a matured person. When my mother Radha heard the story, she said that I was lucky and added that it is difficult to get a role like this. So I agreed to do the role.

My character will be like the real journalists. So far I had acted in two films. I had paired with Nagarjuna son in a Telugu film. This was his first film. Similarly I had paired with Santhosh Shivan in a Malayalam film. But only in Ko I have paired with a hero. I can never forget my dancing in the hanging rock in Norway.

It is a very elevated place from the ground level. If you look down there will be river. If you see down, one will start to swoon. Jeeva and I had to dance in this hanging rock. When I climbed up I got wet because of the snow fall. We were given some safety instructions while standing in this hanging rock. But when the director called for the shot, I forgot the safety instructions and started dancing. The whole shooting crew appreciated me for this. This is the most unforgettable experience. I am expecting the release of this film. Only after the release of this film I will be accepting new offers."

After completing my degree I wanted to join media. But I felt there will be no freedom so I came to cinema. As far as cinema is concerned I am interested in directing and handling camera than acting. I don’t have the ravenousness to become a big commercial actress.

I also don’t want to run around trees singing duets and donning glamour roles. I want to earn a name with my acting skills. There is no necessity for me to act. I am not going to lose anything if I don’t act. I like to act without makeup. But I think because of this I will not get suitable roles. Normally I don’t socialize. I am always on my own.

Some people think that I am head weighted. But I can’t do anything about this. I love o eat a lot. I will eat everything I like. Because of this there was no chance to reduce my weight. I would like to act in good films than acting in commercial films. It is alright for me even if it is an art film. I want to give a good performance so that I willbe remembered even after I quit acting."

But what to do, everybody wanted me to dance like I did in Thamirabharani. Even recently I told S A Chandrasekaran sir that I would like to dance without showing my navel. So he also agreed and I danced for the song Rathiri Nerathu Poojai.

I got the full opportunity to show my skill in Ponnar Shankar. I like to do these kinds of roles. There is also a question that whether I will act in kissing sequence because Priyamani has commented that there is nothing wrong in it. Priyamani is a senior artist. It is also surprising for me that she has commented like that. But at the same time I also ready to kiss if the script is good and if actors like Simbhu, Arya or Dhanush are in the lead roles. If I get a good script, I am ready for lip to lip kiss. I will show what Bhaanu is at that time."

I have read this novel many times. I am not in a position to reveal my role in this film. When I studied in college in Mumbai I used to go by bus. One day I took a wrong direction bus by mistake. When I alighted at the next stop, I was not able to know what was that place.

I saw some blind boys playing cricket. I asked one of the boys and asked him the way. Immediately he said,"How did you come here?". I told him that I took the wrong bus.

He said,"Though I am blind I am able to sense which side is the ball coming and I am able to strike it. But how is it that you took the wrong bus?"This question made me think. At the same time, I also got an idea. That is I wanted render help to blind people. That is why even now I am indulged in charitable social activities."

Poonam Kaur made her debut in the Tamil film titled Nenju Irrukkum Varai. But after a long time she had acted in the recently released Payanam. She donned the role of an airhostess and captivated the hearts of the audience. Poonam Kaur has now changed her name as Natchatra.

Natchatra while speaking said,"Director Radha Mohan after seeing my acting in Telugu films offered me a role in the Tamil film Payanam. He gave me the role because he thought that I would be suitable for the role.

When he narrated me the story, he said,"This film is about a plane hijack. It will not be a commercial film. There will be no song or dance in this film. Nagarjuna and Prakash Raj are also donning important roles. All the roles are small. You should also act in this film."But I was little baffled whether to do this role or not. But Radha Mohan further said,"You are going to don the role of an air hostess. Though the role is small, you can definitely bring out your acting skill."When I found out that there was scope for acting, I immediately gave the nod. Normally the airhostesses have the duty of protecting. In the film Payanam, I will be walking up and down in the plane; there were fewer dialogues for me. But you should speak according to the circumstances.

Radha Mohan sir gave me full freedom to act as per my wish. When I went to the shooting I started living the role. That is why I was able to act well in that hijacked film story. As far as this film is concerned nobody is the hero or heroine but only the story is the hero. I never used make up in this film. People who saw this film are appreciating me very much. I am very happy. All these appreciations are attributed to Radha Mohan sir. Only through Payanam I have made my entry into Tamil cinema. I cannot expect to pair with Surya or Vijay.

First I should prove my mettle in acting in good roles. Many are asking me whether there is any reason for the change of my name. I want to shine in Tamil cinema. So as per the advice of the numerologist I have changed my name as Natchatra. Currently I am acting in a film which has Vishal and Sameera Reddy in the cast. Prabhu Deva is directing this film. I have been given a good role in this film. With regard to glamour, I will definitely act in glamour roles. At the same time I also want to don village girl roles. There are lots of talented directors in Tamil Nadu. By acting in their films, I can definitely earn a good name."
